At Broadway Tollers, our puppies are bred for temperament, health, and conformation giving them the foundation they need to make them outstanding working dogs and family pets. The combination of ancestors of both the sire and the dam is carefully evaluated with the goal of improving each subsequent generation.
The dogs we use in breeding have pedigrees that possess great depth of health clearances that include a consideration of each parent and grandparent's own littermates. That means an even stronger health and temperament outcome for a puppy. All of the dogs I use for breeding have either a preliminary or permanent OFA clearance for hip dysplasia, heart, and thyroid. They are tested for PRA and CEA and have yearly eye exams by a Certified Canine Ophthamologist. They are evaluated for both temperment and structure before leaving Broadway.
In addition to genetics, the most important factors in the health of a dog will be the care it receives both as a puppy and as an adult. Broadway puppies are raised in the house where they are well socialized with children, other dogs, and a variety of adults. They are fed a natural, raw diet, and will have been evaulated by a vet. We work with the puppies on housebreaking, crate training, multiple surface experience, noise tolerance, car rides, and a myriad of other exposures to ensure the puppy is well on its way to being confident in its world before going to their new home.
